focus on: THE TRANSLATOR’S ROLE TODAY

To ensure that the final product is suitable for the Target Market, a translation cannot and must not be the result of the pure and simple transposition of text from one language to another. To do this, those operating in the field of translation today must possess:

  • Cultural-Linguistic knowledge, which cannot be improvised as it requires years of preparation combined with continuous fine tuning and practise.
  • Technical competence, meaning a knowledge of the subject to be translated, which may be developed in a reasonably short space of time and in a targeted manner – case by case - once a solid base has been created.
