What is EBC*L
The European Business Competence Licence (EBC*L) is a certification of specialist knowledge in the field of economics and management recognised throughout Europe. Born from the joint work of some university lecturers in Austria and Germany, the objective set for the European Business Competence Licence is to extend recognition of this professional qualification in terms of the standard parameters related to economic skills to the whole of the European Union.
The EBC*L initiative
The European Business Competence* Licence (EBC*L) is an international initiative aimed at spreading business management knowledge and skills: the main objective set by the EBC*L program is to contribute to the economic literacy of any person wishing to develop their cultural and professional skills: university students, novices or not, experts in the field, managers, but also professionals wishing to certify their economic skills, thanks to an examination, and anyone interested in professional growth in the field through an internationally recognised certificate, designed to: increase the level of knowledge and skill in the field of business economics, guarantee better preparation of those wishing to join the business world, improve the skill and efficiency of those already working in the field, control and manage the economic-financial aspects of a project, supply certification of business economics skills that will allow anyone, irrespective of their basic training, to work in the field of business in any country within the European Union, develop an entrepreneurial mentality. The EBC*L certification covers various subjects of an economic and commercial nature and, on successful completion of the exam, forms a certification system that attests to the holder’s knowledge and skill in the field of business economics based on international standards; holders of the licence will benefit from a valid recognition in every country within the European Union.
Why acquire the EBC*L certification?
The European Business Licence is a European certificate attesting that the holder possesses a basic knowledge of business economics. The EBC*L certification is a European reference standard, distinguished by its uniformity in all of the countries where it is present, guaranteeing the use (circulation) of the qualification; the Italian point of contact for EBC*L certifications is EBCL Italia srl. Every year more than one million job changes occur. This means that companies are forced to assess the suitability of candidates (employability) in a very short time. But what does it really mean to have a basic knowledge of economics? Many people have a knowledge of economics, but it is difficult to define to what level. They consider themselves knowledgeable, but they can’t actually prove it. So a reference standard was needed that could be recognised immediately, with certainty and universally. It is an internationally recognised certificate attesting that the holder has the core skills needed to work in a company sales/accounts department, a public authority, a professional studio, etc. In other words, this "licence" unequivocally defines a person’s ability to work in the field of economics. EBC*L was only recently established, but precisely for the reasons described above it is spreading rapidly to many European countries.
